McAvoy aims to reduce his suspension by at least one game, and it now rests in the hands of NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, who has several options at his disposal.
"Bettman could uphold the current suspension, reduce it, or increase it," Wyshynski noted.
While an increase seems unlikely, McAvoy stands to regain a substantial part of his salary if even a single game is subtracted from his suspension, which amounts to nearly $50,000, as per Capfriendly.
