In recent days, four NHL players connected to the 2018 Canadian World Junior Championship scandal have taken a leave of absence from their teams Carter Hart, Dillon Dube, Cal Foote, and Michael McLeod.

Questions arose regarding the impact on each team due to these departures, and today, NHL insider Frank Seravalli shed light on how the league will handle the situation.

According to Seravalli, while on leave, each player's salary will still count against the cap, and they will continue to be paid. However, they won't contribute to the roster limit until their potential return.

«Subject to change, but my understanding of the current situation for the 4 #NHL players who have taken leave of absence:

Will continue to be paid.
Continue to count against the salary cap.
Do not count against the roster limit (e.g. non-roster status).»

It's worth noting that if these players are officially implicated by the police in the 2018 scandal, this arrangement could change. The London Police are set to provide an update next week, potentially confirming any charges against these players.
