Gary Bettman and his crew have recently taken more action and are putting more effort into promoting hockey, especially in the United States. The NHL recently put together a deal to stream everything on ESPN platforms, with weekly nationally televised games and ESPN+ acting like the former NHL TV.
Well, a new report says that the Pittsburgh Penguins, Boston Bruins, and New York Rangers generate the most views and money on ESPN.
Of course, you won't see them on ESPN every week, however, you may want to get used to seeing them a lot more come next season if you live in America. Even though this is good for the NHL, it's even better for the teams, the players, and the salary cap.
The salary cap is expected to rise just north of $4 million next season, bringing it up to $87.600 million, and with this deal going so well for the NHL, you may see the cap go up even more in the coming years, quicker than we expected it to.
