Top NHL Prospect Suffers Major Skate Blade Injury in Freak Accident
Columbus Blue Jackets rising talent Adam Fantilli faces an eight-week hiatus after sustaining a calf laceration during Sunday's game against the Seattle Kraken.
"Center Adam Fantilli is expected to be sidelined for eight weeks due to a calf laceration."
This setback could have been more severe had the rookie not been wearing a Kevlar sock, which likely mitigated the impact.
Fantilli incurred the injury while checking Kraken forward Jared McCann into the boards. After the hit, he limped off the ice and didn't return to the game, concluding in a 4-2 defeat for the Blue Jackets.
Despite the unfortunate situation, there's a silver lining, and fans extend their best wishes for Fantilli's swift recovery.
"The good news is Adam Fantilli's injury could have been much worse. The bad news is eight weeks from now leaves only a handful of games left in the season. Sucks to see him lose all that development time, as well. Just a bummer to happen on such a freak thing." - A Jackets reporter.
