First player decides to break NHL's Pride Tape ban
Since the NHL announced the banning of Pride Tape, some players have talked about breaking the ban. Last night one player finally put their money where their mouth is and broke the league's ban.
During yesterday's game Arizona Coyotes defender Travis Dermott made the decision to display Pride Tape on his stick. As you may recall, the league sent a memo to all teams in advance of the 2023-24 season stating that jerseys, tape, and anything else used to support a specific cause were banned.
Despite the ban Dermott made the decision to support the case during yesterday's game against the Anaheim Ducks, using Pride tape on his stick.
Whether Dermott will face any repercussions for his actions remains to be seen. This is likely a battle the league definitely doesn't want to fight.
