Calgary Flames looking to lock down key member of their core for a VERY long time
The Calgary Flames have been relatively quiet this off-season and with about six weeks before training camps open, it looks like the Flames focus has shifted to re-signing one of their core players to a long term deal, despite trade rumours.
According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, the Flames are currently working on a potential long-term extension for forward Elias Lindholm. The extension would likely see Lindholm finish his career in Calgary.
It is likely the Flames and Lindholm want to sign an 8-year max contract. According to details the Flames want to sign Lindholm to a deal worth between 8 and 9 million dollars per season.
Lindholm, 28, played 80 games for the Flames last season scoring 22 goals and 42 assists while playing in a top 6 role with the team. With so many key free agents the Flames hope to get Lindholm signed so they can turn their attention elsewhere.
