Evgeni Malkin has been embroiled in some rumors involving the KHL, and it is all because of Mark Madden from the 105.9 The X radio show.

During a recent show, Madden made the erroneous claim that Malkin was going to forego the end of his contract and would simply just go back to Russia and finish his career in the KHL.

"I've been told (Malkin) won't be back after this year - that he'll go to Russia and forgo the last year of his deal," Madden said. "How does that impact Sid? Does Sid know? I bet he does. And I heard there were discussions about trying to get Letang to Montreal at Letang's request, but nothing came of that. So I don't know where this is headed."

Since then, Rob Rossi of The Athletic has come through with a report of his own. As he explains, there is no chance of Malkin going back to the KHL. He found Madden's report to be ridiculous, and quite frankly, a bit insulting to a long-time Penguins superstar

In the same report, Rossi revealed that Sidney Crosby fully intends on returning to the Pittsburgh Penguins this season. This is good news for the Penguins, and it should be interesting to see how they can build upon last season.

Let us know if you thought Malkin was at risk of going to the KHL, in the poll down below. Additionally, stay tuned to Hockey Unplugged for the latest news and updates from around the hockey world.
