As we revealed on Tuesday, both players were hit with offer sheets from the St. Louis Blues. Dylan Holloway was offered two years at a $2,290,457 cap hit. Meanwhile, Philip Broberg was offered two years at a cap hit of $4,580,917. According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, Bowman's offers came in way below that.
Oilers only offered Holloway $1.2 million and they were only willing to give him one year. Meanwhile, Broberg was asking for $1.8 million, and the Oilers just simply were not willing to offer him that. Now, it is very likely that the Oilers lose these players to the Blues.
Bowman already has to navigate some severe Salary Cap issues. For instance, his top priority right now is getting Leon Draisaitl a contract, and that could cost the team upwards of $14 million per year. From there, Conor McDavid will be next, and he will want $15 million per year. Needless to say, not an ideal situation in Edmonton.
