Ron MacLean has long been a familiar face on Hockey Night in Canada and other Canadian television programs. However, since the departure of Coaches Corner in 2019, he's been increasingly criticized for being out of touch with the game, leading many fans to call for his departure from hockey TV.

Last night, MacLean's struggles were on display once again during an interview with Toronto Maple Leafs forward Bobby McMann. While conversing with McMann, MacLean veered off-topic to discuss a dress shop owned by former New York Rangers general manager Glen Sather's mom, as they both hail from the same Alberta town.

After this odd segue, MacLean abruptly asked McMann about the history of their hometown, leading to an awkward pause before McMann admitted he was unfamiliar with the topic.

MacLean: "You're too young, you can't know this Bobby but Glen Sather's mom had a shop in Wainwright it was a dress...

McMann: No... no I don't know that history,»

The rest of the interview remained uncomfortable for everyone involved, highlighting MacLean's growing detachment from the modern game.

His inability to connect with current players underscores the widening gap between him and today's hockey landscape, resulting in cringe-worthy television moments, particularly in the national spotlight.
