Matt Rempe, an enforcer and forward for the New York Rangers, was reportedly on the ice for the morning optional skate earlier today. This indicated that he was probably going to be scratched from a game during the playoffs yet again. Still, based on the fact that he was spotted performing his pregame ritual on the bench, it seems likely that he will play.
Rempe performs brilliantly when he is added to the roster; but, when called upon, his main function is to be a formidable presence that inspires terror and provides his teammates with a little motivation when needed. Rempe has been scratched for three of the last four Rangers games.
Rempe's potential to make the starting lineup seems somewhat inconsequential, though, if the Rangers are to address Sam Bennett's issue. Their best bet would probably be to have the 6'7 monster on hand. Bennett can tow the line, which Rempe can correct if given the opportunity. Bennett is known to be a pest himself.
Rempe has the potential to be a significant player who makes a difference if he plays the game morally and avoids the penalty area. Wearing down the Panthers would assist if the Rangers have any chance of winning the series, though that is not a given. If needed, this is the ideal chance for Rempe to flourish.
