HockeyAllsvenskan, a second-tier league in Sweden, had to stop a match between Tingryds AIF and Nybro Vikings IF after AIF player Linus Hedman went down with what appeared to be a significant injury.

Hedman was hit hard and his head smashed the ice extremely hard. Hedman was down and motionless which led to a stoppage in play. Eventually, an ambulance had to come onto the ice and Hedman was taken to the hospital. In an update on the Tingryds website, it was revealed that the player has a concussion and even had to get stitches put into the back of his head.
"Considering the nasty situation that arose in connection with yesterday's match against Nybro, Linus Hedman is now relatively well. X-rays showed that he had suffered a severe concussion. He also needed stitches to the back of his head after the damage he sustained on landing after the impact. At the time of writing, Linus remains at the hospital in Kalmar for observation. Through his partner, Linus says he is incredibly grateful and moved by all the support he has received, both from TAIF supporters and management, but also from Nybro Vikings and their professional handling in connection with the accident.

Now recovery and a lot of rest await Linus before #88 is back on the ice."

We wish Hedman the best of luck in his recovery moving forward. You never want to see a player go down in this fashion. It once again shows just how dangerous hockey can be, at any level.
