Sad news has hit the hockey world today as it was revealed that former Ontario Hockey League star Kurtis Evans passed away at the age of 23. Evans was battling cancer.

Evans was drafted by the North Bay Battalions in the third-round back in 2017 and spent three years with the team from 2017 to 2019. He was a player who was beloved by his teammates and always supported them until the bitter end.
The Ontario Hockey League posted a very nice tribute to Evans earlier today. They also talked about his parents and their wishes following their son's passing. This is a horrible tragedy for the hockey world.
"Evans is remembered by friends and family, and leaves behind parents Brad and Holly and brother Jackson. The OHL sends heartfelt thoughts and condolences to all affected at this time.

The Evans family would appreciate donations to the Ewings Cancer Foundation of Canada as a tribute to Kurtis' memory."

Our heart goes out to the Evans family during this incredibly difficult time. We cannot imagine the pain and the hurt that they must be going through right now. Cancer is a terrible disease and we need to find a cure soon. Too many lives have been taken all too soon. 23 is far too young.
