After all, Canadiens fans, especially francophone Canadiens fans, love it when the team picks up players from Quebec. There is a lot of pride there and it always leads to some fan engagement. Having said that, it appears as though the Habs have decided to respectfully pass over both of these players. That is not to say one of them did not get picked up, however.
According to TVA Sports journalist Renaud Lavoie, Raphael Lavoie has been taken off of Waivers by the Las Vegas Golden Knights. Lavoie was put there by the Edmonton Oilers after an unsuccessful training camp. Lavoie was a 38th overall pick of the Oilers in 2019 and only played a total of seven games with the team.
In those seven games last season, Lavoie was unable to record a point. That said, while playing for the Bakersfield Condors, he had some truly solid outings. Last season, he even had 50 points in 66 games. He has offensive capability and perhaps in the right system, he can get some fourth line action.
The Golden Knights are a team with a lot of turnover typically and this is yet another example of that. Only time will tell whether or not Lavoie gets any real playing time with the franchise. If not, he may just be relegated back to the AHL for the season.
