With the NHL trade deadline just three days away, teams are making last-minute roster moves. Players need to be on an NHL roster by 3 p.m. ET on Friday, so using the waiver wire this week is crucial.

Yesterday, three players were placed on waivers, and today, five more joined them, aiming to be assigned to the American Hockey League.

One of today's names on the waiver wire is Maxime Comtois. Despite signing a one-year, two-way deal with the Carolina Hurricanes, Comtois has spent the season in the AHL with the Chicago Wolves. If he clears waivers, he'll continue playing in Chicago.

Comtois, 25, has been impressive in the AHL, tallying 28 points in 45 games.

Edmonton Oilers placed veteran forward Sam Gagner on waivers today. Gagner, in his third stint with the Oilers, has recorded ten points in 27 games this season.

The Vancouver Canucks also made a move, putting defenseman Guillaume Brisebois on waivers. Brisebois, recovering from injury, hasn't played this season.

"General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that D Guillaume Brisebois has been placed on waivers for the purpose of assignment to Abbotsford (AHL)."

Finally, the Minnesota Wild placed forwards Vinni Lettieri and Jake Lucchini on waivers. Lettieri has seven points in 32 games with the Wild, while Lucchini has two points in 21 games.

These moves signal teams' efforts to fine-tune their rosters as the trade deadline approaches.
