Carolina Hurricanes GM Frantically Try To Deal Defenceman Before Trade Deadline
With hopes of a strong playoff push, GM Don Waddell is looking to shuffle his roster, and that means one defenceman is up for grabs.
Frank Seravalli reports that Carolina is ready to part ways with Tony DeAngelo, even if it means not getting much in return.
"As teams continue to scour the market for right-shot defensemen, sounds like #Canes have set the ask at a 5th round pick for Tony DeAngelo and they will retain 50 percent to make it happen ($837,500).
It's been a tough year and they're willing to grant a change of scenery."
DeAngelo's had a rough go this season, only playing 27 games and spending some time in the press box. He's got 3 goals and 10 points, but even with the easy terms, finding a taker might be tricky.
Despite his off-ice issues, the Hurricanes are solely focusing on his performance, which hasn't met expectations. At 28, and with free agency looming, DeAngelo might be facing a crossroads in his NHL career.
