During the offseason, Evgeny Kuznetsov left the NHL so that he could sign in the KHL back in his home country of Russia.

Kuznetsov has been playing with SKA St. Petersburg where he is teammates with Montreal Canadiens prospect Ivan Demidov and the controversial defenseman, Tony DeAngelo. Unfortunately, Kuznetsov is going to be out of the lineup for the next two months. This is because he suffered a major injury, that has not been fully disclosed by his team. Regardless, the club is committed to giving him amazing treatment.
"After medical tests, we've discovered that Evgeny Kuznetsov's injury is quite serious. Roughly two months are required for Kuzy to return to action. We have put together a detailed recovery plan, Evgeny will work with our doctors and physical conditioning coaches at every stage of the process. We won't rush matters - SKA and the entire league need a healthy Kuzy, who will be able to show 100% of his capabilities. Evgeny is the best player in the KHL, he's a leader of our team both on and off the ice. I have no doubt that fans of all KHL teams will be waiting for Evgeny to return. Of course, his absence is a big loss for us, but, as I said yesterday, all of our guys played for Kuzy, the victory against Severstal is for him and we will continue to win for him. I sincerely wish Evgeny health and a speedy recovery, we're waiting for him to return to the ice!"

We wish Kuznetsov nothing but the best during his recovery. It is never easy to come back from an injury so we hope he is able to get the best care imaginable. We're sure his team is taking all of this incredibly seriously.
