There was a general belief that Auston Matthews should have been appointed the Toronto Maple Leafs' captain when John Tavares was named. Unfortunately, Matthews' role was lost to him due to legal issues off the ice, as it was revealed that he neglected to notify the organization of his error. Since then, Matthews has taken on the position of assistant captain, and many are now calling for him to take on the captaincy.
It seems the debate is back on after yet another heartbreaking playoff loss. Logan Paul may have just disclosed that Matthews might be the future Maple Leafs captain in his most recent YouTube video, though. Paul's YouTube profile had a video from which the screenshot below was taken.
The screenshot comes from Paul's recent video and can be found at 12:16 of the video.
This might just be an editing mistake, but it might also be a sign of things to come. Giving Matthews the C instead of John Tavares would go a long way toward helping the Maple Leafs transform their culture.
We will definitely need to keep an eye on this topic, but only time will tell what the Maple Leafs have planned.
