The Adam Johnson Passing Gets Much Worse For The Nottingham Panthers Organization
In a somber but understandable decision, the Nottingham Panthers, the EIHL team that tragically lost Adam Johnson, has opted to conclude its participation in the current season.
In an official statement, the team conveyed,
"The Nottingham Panthers will withdraw from this season's Challenge Cup and take no further part in the competition. We'd like to thank fans again for their support and will provide a fresh update about fixtures in the coming days."
The untimely passing of Johnson, a former member of the Pittsburgh Penguins, occurred at the end of last month. The incident, where he suffered a fatal cut to the neck from an opponent's skate blade, prompted a police investigation and led leagues worldwide to implement a mandatory neck guard policy.
Addressing the impact on fans, the Panthers assured,
"The Panthers have promised a refund to all season ticket holders in the next two weeks."
While the entire EIHL initially halted activities following Johnson's death, all other teams are now prepared to resume the season.
