The Pittsburgh Penguins delivered a significant update on Friday via their social media platforms, revealing plans to retire the jersey of team icon Jaromir Jagr on February 18th, just before their clash with the Los Angeles Kings.
The celebration, branded 'Celebrate 68', will feature the raising of Jagr's No. 68 jersey at PPG Paints Arena, accompanied by a pre-game festivity. Fans attending the event will be treated to a replica Jagr No. 68 banner, and as an added bonus, a special commemorative Jagr bobblehead will be distributed during the game against the San Jose Sharks on Thursday, March 14th.
A statement made by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Jagr, now 51, was the Penguins' fifth overall pick in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft and contributed significantly during his 11 seasons with Pittsburgh, accumulating 1,079 points (439 goals, 640 assists) in 806 games and securing two Stanley Cups.
