The Arizona Coyotes seem to continually prove themselves to be unfit as an NHL franchise. With constant rumours of relocation and trouble securing an arena, now the Coyotes are facing some terrible news as a leading relocation candidate is making major upgrades to an existing arena to be NHL-ready.

Houston is about to embark on a 30-million dollar renovation to their Toyota Center, and according to NHL insider Chris Johnston, part of the upgrades will include the installation of equipment to sustain an ice surface.

Of note: The renovation underway at Houston's Toyota Center will include the installation of ice-making equipment that will ensure the building can ultimately be NHL-ready.

It's been known Houston is interested and able to host an NHL team, and now beginning the installation of ice-sustaining equipment, they would be fully available to host hockey games if the league decides to relocate to Coyotes to a professional sized arena.

Even if the league has no plans to relocate the Coyotes, the creation of this possibility for relocation in Houston will put pressure on the Coyotes franchise to play a competitive team in a professional arena - neither of which they are accomplishing now.

Only time will tell what will happen, but what's become clear is that there are far more appealing options for NHL cities than the homeless Arizona Coyotes at the moment.
