The NHL season will begin in just over 4 hours, and teams are required to have their final rosters submitted 30 minutes before the start of the first game. This gives teams a very minimal amount of time to complete their rosters, but it didn't stop the Colorado Avalanche and Carolina Hurricanes from making a trade.
The following trade was announced this afternoon:
The #Canes have acquired forward Callahan Burke from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for Caleb Jones.
Burke will remain on loan with the Colorado Eagles (AHL).
The Carolina Hurricanes are one of the league's deepest teams at defense, so seeing them move out a defender should surprise no one. The Colorado Avalanche are also looking to add depth after Bowen Byram was shaken up during the preseason by a stiff hit.
