Patrick Kane training video drops and the 34-year-old looks fantastic after major hip surgery
When Patrick Kane announced that he was undergoing major hip surgery this summer at 34 years of age, many had wondered whether or not his career as we know it might be over.
Kane's mobility last season wasn't what it had been in years past, and with hockey being as mobile as it is, Kane's hip issues were preventing him from being as productive as we had come to know him. Still, he was able to will himself into racking up 57 points in 73 games, split between the bottom-feeding Chicago Blackhawks and playoff contending New York Rangers.
On Tuesday's edition of Insider Trading, TSN's Darren Dreger said that interested teams have begun to contact Kane's agent Pat Brisson, but are wanting more medical information.
"Pat Brisson continues to get requests from some interested teams, from multiple teams, in fact, just wanting a little bit more medical information," said TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger on Tuesday in Insider Trading. "But, I don't believe that Patrick Kane is going to be in a position where he can interview with the select teams until mid-to-late October.
"So, there's still work to get done here."
In hopes of calming teams' worries and increasing the interest in potentially signing the 34-year-old, Kane's agency, CAA Hockey, put out a compilation video on Wednesday showing Kane hard at work during his rehab, running skating, stickhandling and shooting drills.
Per the most recent reports from several notable hockey insiders, Kane hopes to sign a contract within the next month or so. There are expected to be a number of teams interested in enlisting his services, but there has been no mention of who those teams might be and whether or not any contenders will make a serious pitch. It's likely going to all come down to the dollars and cents.
