Patrick Kane being linked to one of his former teams via rumors
Patrick Kane underwent offseason hip surgery, which is likely the only reason the forward has yet to sign an NHL contract. Reports about Kane's recovery have been very promising and could see the forward return before Christmas, but before that happens Kane will need to ink a new NHL deal.
Most reports state that Kane is in no rush to sign a deal and is comfortable waiting until after the season begins to see where teams sit in the standings before committing to anyone. It had long been believed that the New York Rangers had interest in Kane returning, but they were also pursuing a potential return of Vladimir Tarasenko, who decided to sign in Ottawa.
Now it appears Kane's door in New York might be back open.
Vladimir Tarasenko going to Ottawa only opens up the door for Patrick Kane to come back to #NYR . There may be more salary cap configuring like there was this past year, but with Kane being out for a while, Drury can make something work with Kane's camp on a pro-rated deal.
Kane, 34, had 57 points in 73 games last season. He scored 21 goals and added 36 assists while never being close to 100%. If healthy Kane could help any team in their quest for the Cup.
