Frost, now 24, has been a bit more of a project than I think anyone believed he would be. As a former 1st round pick, the sky was believed to be the limit for him, but for whatever reason, it just hasn't clicked for him as quickly at the NHL level. However, in 2023-24, he showed his first real signs of life, scoring 19 goals and tallying 46 points, career highs in both categories.
There's very little doubt Frost and his agent are seeking more money on his next deal, but there's a risk involved for new Flyers GM Danny Briere. Will Frost continue to progress, or has he already reached his ceiling?
Frost is a restricted free agent, which means that the team currently has most of the leverage here. Frost can still request a trade if he feels that there is a better opportunity and more money out there for him somewhere else, but the Flyers don't need to oblige him. The other avenue that is available to him is signing an offer sheet with another team, but the Flyers would have the chance to match an offer sheet, which would allow the team to retain the player.
