Nick Ritchie forced to sign PTO with Western Conference team
When Nick Ritchie was drafted the Anaheim Ducks had all the hopes in the world that he'd be a star. The big rugged forward projected as the prototypical power forward that every NHL team wants. However, it didn't work out the way the team had planned.
Today the St. Louis Blues announced they have made an addition to their roster by signing the former 2014 tenth overall pick to a professional tryout contract (PTO). Ritchie will join the Blues at camp and should see considerable time during the preseason as well.
Ritchie, 27, was picked with the tenth overall pick by the Anaheim Ducks over nine years ago and has since spent time with Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs, Arizona Coyotes and Calgary Flames.
In 74 games with the Coyotes and Flames last season, Ritchie had 26 points (13 goals, 13 assists), 53 penalty minutes and was a minus-21.
The Blues will open their preseason schedule on Saturday, September 23rd with a pair of split-squad games against the Arizona Coyotes.
