Hockey Player Breaks A Refs Arm After Sending Him Flying Into The Boards
In today's game in Sweden's HockeyTrean, a player named Casper Gilberg found himself at the center of controversy after accidentally colliding with a referee.
The incident, which resulted in the referee being taken to the hospital with a broken arm, occurred during a crucial moment in the final of the series.
While Gilberg and his coach defended the hit, attributing it to an accident, the player claimed that the official had been obstructive throughout the game. Gilberg stated,
"The referee gets in the way, as he did the whole game. I had to stop their player, and then the referee got in the way. Then he had to take the hit even though it was not the intention, of course."
While acknowledging that the referee ended up between the two players, there's debate over whether Gilberg could have avoided the collision. The league is expected to review the incident for further evaluation.
