Former NHL Player Looking To Face Up To 50-Years in Prison
Mike Ribeiro, a former NHL player, is currently facing serious legal troubles that could lead to up to 50 years in prison. Accused of SA of two women and attempting to assault a third, the incidents are said to have occurred on Lake Cypress Springs on June 23, 2021.
In the ongoing trial, the third woman accusing Ribeiro of SA testified on Thursday. The accusations involve one assault on his boat and two separate incidents on a Waverunner jetski with individual women.
Maintaining his innocence, Ribeiro has chosen a jury trial. His defense team has raised questions about the alleged victims' motives and concerns regarding the proper handling of the investigation by law enforcement.
This isn't the first time Ribeiro has faced such accusations. In 2015, a former nanny accused him of SA, resulting in a settlement between the parties. The trial is anticipated to last two weeks.
