Shane Wright's latest comments about himself will have you rolling your eyes in disbelief
Shane Wright has had a disappointing NHL career so far and it all started with his nightmarish Draft night back in 2022 when the Seattle Kraken took him fourth overall.
At the time, Wright believed that he should have been the first overall pick. In fact, that is where most analysts had him going. However, the Montreal Canadiens passed over him and it led to that infamous death stare. Prior to being drafted, Wright made the case for why he should be the first overall pick. Now, those comments are looked down upon as completely delusional.
"I believe that's where I should go. I believe that I'm the best player. I believe that, you know, throughout my play, throughout my entire life, it has shown that I'm the best player, and I'm a competitive guy, and I want to be that spot, and I don't want anyone to take that from me, and I believe that I'm deserving of being that number one spot, and I believe that I'm going to be the first pick"
Wright is expected to play the entire upcoming season in Seattle, and the NHL believes his over/under for points on the season should be around 48. This is not a total that inspires confidence, especially considering where he was drafted. That said, in a recent interview, Wright called himself a generational talent.
"I'm still a player that I should be. I'm still a generational talent."
As the Twitter account below pointed out, 48 points is a very low bar for someone who is supposed to be generational. At this stage, Wright is simply being humiliated out there.
