Tony DeAngelo is a player who has proven to be controversial over the years, especially during his time with the New York Rangers.

Over the past couple of years, he has bounced around between the Carolina Hurricanes and the Philadelphia Flyers. However, he is now currently without a team, and no one really knows whether or not he will be able to find a new NHL home.

However, according to reporter David Staples, it would appear as though the Edmonton Oilers are now possible contenders for the defenseman. In a new report, he noted how the Oilers are in the mix for an offensive defenseman, and DeAngelo fits that bill.

DeAngelo did not have a great season with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2023-24. He only played 31 games, although he did end up with 11 points. Three of those points were goals. He can offer up some offensive play from time to time. However, his character issues could prove to be a hurdle for him, moving forward.

The Oilers are not in a great position, especially following the loss of Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway. Their salary cap issues are pretty hardcore, and Stan Bowman has a lot to figure out. Hopefully, for Oilers fans, the rest of the offseason goes smoothly, especially with Leon Draisaitl in talks to become the highest-paid player in the history of the league.
