Penguins Goalie Alex Nedeljkovic Forced To Leave Game After Getting Destroyed
Despite being on the brink of elimination from the 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs, the Pittsburgh Penguins showed commendable spirit in their Sunday afternoon clash against the Colorado Avalanche.
Sidney Crosby was in fine form, amassing 4 points in just the first two periods, setting the stage for what looked to be a strong push from the Penguins. However, the game took a turn in the third period.
Penguins' goalie Alex Nedeljkovic was forced to exit the game after a heavy collision with Avalanche forward Casey Mittelstadt. During an attack, Mittelstadt's attempt at goal went awry as the puck unexpectedly ramped up his stick, preventing him from taking a clear shot.
Distracted by the wayward puck, he ended up crashing into Nedeljkovic, with the goalie bearing the brunt of the impact with his head.
Nedeljkovic was visibly shaken by the collision but tried to soldier on, staying in the game for a brief period before he had to bow out, heading down the tunnel after the unsettling hit.
