Ryan Johansen was acquired by the Philadelphia Flyers in the offseason, and many were curious about this deal and whether or not it was a good one.

Johansen has been dealing with hip issues and it was putting his time with the Flyers into question. While he did play 63 games with the Colorado Avalanche last year, fans knew that later in the year, his injury issues kept him off of the ice. In fact, these problems had some wondering whether or not his career was over.
Well, the Flyers may have given us an answer. Today, they placed the forward on unconditional waivers. They are doing this so that they can terminate his contract, once and for all. They are accusing him of a material breach of his contract and according to Elliotte Friedman, this process could play out quite dramatically if Johansen files a grievance.
Johansen has played over 900 games throughout his NHL Career. He was the fourth overall pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, and scored over 30 goals 2013-14. It was the only time that he was able to reach the 30-goal plateau. He has 578 career points and if this is the end, it was certainly a respectable career, no matter what. Only time will tell how this dispute ends up playing out.
