Oscar Klefbom breaks his silence with shocking announcement
Oscar Klefbom hasn't played a single NHL game since 2020 when he was a player with the Edmonton Oilers.
In many respects, Klefbom was a fan-favorite. However, he eventually faded out of the public eye and hasn't been heard from in years. Well, the 31-year-old just broke his silence with a major announcement. Unfortunately, it is one of those announcements that will leave fans saddened.
Klefbom is officially retiring from professional hockey. He is now living in Sweden, and revealed that he only recently spoke out because of the mental toll from his injuries. Now, he wants to try and find a job within the hockey world so he can continue to pursue his passion.
"It was a choice I made. I told Edmonton that I wanted to lay very low with what was going to happen and what the situation is. They were perfectly fine with that. From my side, it was also because I thought it was too difficult to talk about it.
I have barely watched a single Oilers game since I quit. It's been too hard. When I look, I just see myself there, see what I would do myself. It has been a struggle mentally."
