This evening, the Edmonton Oilers traded Cody Ceci to the San Jose Sharks in a trade that was expected for quite some time now.

Following the offer sheets directed at Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg by the St. Louis Blues, fans knew that a trade was on the horizon and Cody Ceci was in all of the trade talks. Now, he has officially been dealt to the Sharks alongside a third-round pick in 2025.
In return, the Edmonton Oilers are getting 24-year-old defenseman Ty Emberson. He played 30 games with the Sharks last season and scored 1 goal along with 10 total points.
The Oilers are certainly far from done right now. This week, they will have to make an official decision on Holloway and Broberg, although all signs are pointing towards the Oilers keeping Holloway and letting Broberg walk. As for Emberson, it still remains to be seen where his NHL potential truly lies.
In fact, the Oilers made a trade earlier today with the Vancouver Canucks where they acquired Vasily Podkolzin for some draft capital. Only time will tell what else Stan Bowman has up his sleeve for this Edmonton Oilers franchise.
