Today, the Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks made a trade that is now sending former first-round pick Vasily Podkolzin to Edmonton.

Podkolzin was taken with the 10th overall pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. He has only played 137 career NHL games since then and has tallied 35 points. Most of his time has been spent in Abbotsford, playing for the Canucks farm team. It is certainly not ideal and it is easy to see why the Canucks would want to move on.
As for the Oilers, they are giving up a fourth-round pick in 2025. This is a pick that they had originally acquired from the Ottawa Senators.
The Oilers certainly are not done making moves. They currently have to decide on the futures of Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway. Furthermore, there are now rumors that they would like to make deals on Cody Ceci and even Brett Kulak. Only time will tell what is in store for this year's Stanley Cup finalists.
