Overall, the Edmonton Oilers are a team that still has a lot of work to do on its roster thanks to some issues they ran into over the summer.

Firstly, it should be noted that the team just signed Leon Draisaitl to an eight-year deal at $14 million AAV. Moreover, they lost players like Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg to offer sheets from the St. Louis Blues. Having said all of that, the team does not have a ton of cap space, and their defensive core leaves a lot to be desired.
According to insider Frank Seravalli, the Oilers are currently in the midst of working on a big trade. Overall, they are looking to target a defenseman as that is their biggest need right about now.
There are plenty of rumors going around as to who the Oilers may collaborate with on a deal. One such team is none other than the Montreal Canadiens, according to Habs et LNH. Only time will tell if this is the case. There are 31 teams the Oilers could partner up with, and Stan Bowman will just have to do whatever makes the most sense for the franchise.
After making it to the Stanley Cup Finals last year, the team will want another taste of that success. This time around, they will want to win the whole thing. Only time will tell whether or not that is going to be possible.
