Unfortunately, injuries have derailed his career a bit. He has torn his Achilles twice, and last year with the Capitals, he was only able to suit up for 47 games, while notching a total of four goals and 19 assists. Overall, it wasn't an extremely productive year, and at 35 years old, he is a bit over the hill.
Having said that, according to Max Miller of The Hockey News, Pacioretty would be the perfect PTO candidate for the San Jose Sharks. After all, they were dead last in the NHL last year, and need an injection of offense.
Despite his age and injuries, Pacioretty can still be productive. Not to mention, he can provide a bit of leadership to the young guys in the locker room. Given these facts, it could behoove the Sharks to make the move. After all, it wouldn't cost them a whole lot of money. Only time will tell what happens next to Pacioretty, who would certainly love to get one more chance in the league.
