Fans have been fed up with the mediocrity. This is especially true when you consider how the team used to hold the record for most playoff appearances in a row. Regardless, the team is trying to get better, especially when it comes to the goaltender position. In fact, heading into this season, things were a bit crowded for the team.
Husso is in the final year of a deal that pays him about $4.75 million per year. It seems like the Red Wings aren't super thrilled about how much they are paying him right now. They believe Talbot is the guy moving forward and when Campbell comes back, he will certainly have a spot on the roster.
Only time will tell what happens next for Husso. If he clears waivers, he will surely have to go to the AHL. This is not an ideal situation, but such is life in the NHL. It can be a brutal business and if you aren't living up to your contract, these things can happen.
