Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew were killed last Thursday while they were riding bicycles near their home of Salem, New Jersey.

In the aftermath, teams throughout the NHL have been looking to pay tribute. Fans have all sorts of ideas on the best way to do that. However, the Blue Jackets are under the most pressure given the fact that Gaudreau was playing for them at the time of his death.
Well, today, the team announced that on Wednesday, September 4th, there will be a candlelight vigil held at Nationwide Arena at Front Street Plaza. This vigil will begin at 7:30 PM and is going to honor the lives of both Johnny and Matthew. All are welcome to this special event.
This is a truly amazing initiative from the Blue Jackets. Their fanbase is in mourning and they want to be there for those who are struggling. Moreover, this will be a great way for fans to showcase just how beloved Gaudreau truly was by everyone who knew him or watched him play.
Our heart continues to go out to the Gaudreau family and the entire hockey community during this difficult time. We hope everyone who has been impacted will get the help they both need and deserve.
