It has been reported that Swayman wants a long-term deal at $10 million per year. However, the Bruins are simply not willing to give him that. In fact, it was reported that the Bruins only wanted to give him $6.2 million per year and that his deal would only last for a pathetic four years. It is getting out of hand and according to insiders, it might be getting a whole lot worse.
According to Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic, a critical mass is being reached. In fact, a holdout seems like Shinzawa doesn't see a deal getting done prior to training camp.
If this is the case, then Swayman could ultimately be shooting himself in the foot. If he holds out, he risks ruining his rhythm for when the regular season finally starts. Not to mention, this would be terrible for the Bruins who need their starting goaltender available, especially following the Linus Ullmark trade. No matter what, this situation has gone on too long and it is starting to have some truly damaging effects.
