Thatcher Demko and Arturs Silovs both have injuries that put them on track to miss the start of the season for the Vancouver Canucks.

Both of these goaltenders are starting-caliber netminders which makes this situation all the more terrible for Vancouver. At this stage, the team is looking for goalies to plug into their system. They need someone and the market is pretty barren right now. However, they thought they had a goaltender in Kevin Lankinen, who has previously played with both the Chicago Blackhawks and the Nashville Predators.
According to reports, Lankinen was offered one year at less than $1 million. However, Lankinen has no interest in making less than $1 million. As a result, he declined the offer and now, the Canucks are going back to the drawing board.

Lankinen may not get any better NHL offers. He has a career record of 43-45-12 and has a goals-against average of 3.07. His save percentage isn't much better as it is barely above 90 percent. Having said that, the Canucks might actually just be better off with someone else. The big issue here is that there aren't many good goalies available right now.
Do you believe Lankinen made a huge mistake by rejecting the offer? Let us know in the poll down below and stay tuned to Hockey Unplugged for the latest news and updates from around the hockey world.
