Recently, Ryan Whitney came out and revealed that the Bruins are only offering Swayman four years at $6.2 million AAV. Meanwhile, Swayman is looking for eight years and $10 million AAV. With both sides being so far apart, it feels as though a deal will not get done before the start of training camp. Overall, this could prove to be incredibly disastrous for the Bruins.
During the most recent episode of 32 Thoughts, Elliotte Friedman confirmed that things between the Bruins and Swayman have eroded. Essentially, Swayman wants a McAvoy type deal which is around $9.5 million.
As for Ryan Whitney's comment from the other day, Friedman notes that no one has refuted it. Essentially, the Sportsnet insider believes that Whitney is telling the truth. Once again, this is a horrible look for the Bruins organization.
The Bruins need goaltending, especially after they got rid of Linus Ullmark. If they cannot get Swayman signed, then their franchise could be in dire straits for the first time in about a decade.
