A few weeks into the off-season, Ryan McDonagh was involved in a significant transaction between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Nashville Predators.

The seasons of the Tampa Bay Lightning and Nashville Predators both ended prematurely in the opening round. As we approach the off-season, both teams are focusing on enhancing their respective organizations. The organization completed a trade today that sent Ryan McDonagh back to the Tampa Bay Lightning after just two years in Nashville, giving them a head start on that.
McDonagh returns to Tampa Bay, where he was sent as a cap dump just two seasons prior, as part of the deal that was revealed this morning. Just seconds ago, the Nashville Predators announced the deal's specifics on their official X account.
Nashville Predators General Manager Barry Trotz announced today that the team has acquired a seventh-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft and a second-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for defenseman Ryan McDonagh and Edmonton's fourth-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.
McDonagh participated in 74 games this season, tallying 29 assists in addition to 3 goals. He got 31 penalty minutes and was +19. In addition, McDonagh participated in six playoff games, logging six penalty minutes and one assist.
