Boston Bruins expected to make top line center a massive offer
With their defeat in Game 7 of the second round by the Edmonton Oilers, the Vancouver Canucks' season has officially ended. The Canucks had an amazing season, exceeding everyone's predictions from the start of the campaign.
Patrik Allvin and the Canucks' management team will need to get down and create a plan for the summer, including how they will handle the draft and free agency, now that the season is finished. Numerous players on the Canucks' roster are scheduled to become restricted or unrestricted free agents.
Elias Lindholm, one of those unrestricted free agents, might be a valuable asset when he hits the open market on July 1st. He wasn't as happy in Vancouver as many had thought, especially in light of the trade price the Canucks had to pay the Flames to acquire him. It's likely that the Canucks will let Lindholm leave because other players like
Nikita Zadorov and
Filip Hronek need to sign new contracts.
The Boston Bruins have prioritized pursuing a centerman in free agency this summer, and Elias Lindholm is supposedly at the top of their list, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
The Boston Bruins and Elias Lindholm seem like a perfect fit. The Boston Bruins suffered during the Stanley Cup Playoffs and occasionally even in the regular season due to their lack of center depth. General Manager Don Sweeney made a poor choice in losing David Krejci and Patrice Bergeron last summer, but he will have a chance to improve the team's middle depth in a little more than a month.
Seeing what possible changes the Boston Bruins make to stay competitive for the 2024–25 season and beyond in the draft and free agency will be interesting to watch.
