Earlier this week, we reported on the signing of Peyton Krebs to a two-year deal worth $2.9 million. For many, this was a straight-up bad signing due to the fact that it was so underwhelming. Sure, the Sabres got it done but it had taken so long that fans felt like it was a display of pure and utter incompetence from a franchise that at this point, should know a whole lot better.
Now, it is being reported by Elliotte Friedman that the Sabres were reportedly trying to trade Kerbs. However, they could not find a trade partner. While Kerbs has a low levels of production, there was this feeling that this kind of deal would have actually been pretty big because of Krebs' potential.
One has to wonder what the plan is for the Sabres, moving forward. They have done next to nothing to make this team a true contender. They are never close to the postseason, and that probably won't change for a while. Either way, the team is down bad.
