Patrik Laine almost takes his goalie's head off (video)
Patrik Laine is currently getting in his first practices with the Montreal Canadiens and he is getting acclimated to his new teammates.
Laine has been getting better and better every single day on the ice. In fact, yesterday, he was looking his best so far and journalists, as well as his teammates, were taking notice.
Yesterday, however, he almost took goalie Hunter Jones' head off. While getting a breakaway and rushing to the net, Laine took a quick shot that was so powerful, Jones' helmet came off. Jones was okay but it was the perfect example of what Laine can do out there.
Anthony Martineau of TVA Sports gave an interesting assessment of Patrik Laine's line with Alex Newhook and Kirby Dach. Essentially, Dach and Laine are connecting, but Newhook has looked almost absent on the ice.
"The Laine-Newhook-Dach line is more comfortable than yesterday. Longer offensive zone sequences. The three guys are finding each other better. Dach, in particular, seems in great shape. He moves well. Laine is agile and very hard to stop once he gets going, but sometimes tries to do too much and loses the puck avoiding some simple plays. Newhook is the least visible of the three."
Do you believe Laine will have a career resurgence in Montreal? Let us know in the poll down below and stay tuned to Hockey Unplugged for the latest news and updates from around the hockey world.
