The National Hockey League has had to postpone or cancel a few games in recent years because of inclement weather that affects clubs' schedules, but I don't believe anything like this has ever happened before. In particular, since it could affect the Stanley Cup Final.
Florida Panthers writer and editor George Richards of NHL.com and Florida Hockey Now claims that the team is finding it hard to leave South Florida because of the continuous monsoon that is plaguing the region. He states that although the team is supposed to land in Edmonton later tonight, the aircraft has been delayed due to the current weather.
Despite the fact that the Florida Panthers should arrive in Edmonton before tomorrow's game, it doesn't appear like they will be leaving anytime soon. It appears that the majority of players remain at the team's facilities while the flooding prevents them from leaving.
If this weather persists, there's a chance the game will be postponed, particularly if the Panthers are unable to take off quickly. It goes beyond a simple regular season match. The Stanley Cup final is currently underway, and I doubt the NHL would want to give the impression that they are supporting one side over the other. If the Florida Panthers don't get enough sleep.
