Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin set a new NHL record during last night's win against the Flyers, becoming the first duo ever to win 400 games with each a point.
Down 3-0 in the second, a seemingly impossible hole to climb out of, the Penguins refused to be quieted, fighting their way back to a 4-4 draw in regulation.
Their persistence would see them earn at least a valuable standings point, but Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin were not ready to settle for that.
Malkin won the game in style, stopping on a dime to leave the lone Flyers defender in the dust before ripping a laser past the goaltender for his second goal of the night.
His four-point masterpiece equaled him with Tampa Bay's Nikita Kucherov for the fourth-most such contests among active players (31), trailing only Alexander Ovechkin (32), Connor McDavid (40), and Crosby (42).
Crosby and Malkin are one of the top, if not the top duo ever in the NHL
Along with the individual milestones, there were Malkin and Crosby, etching their names into the record books again as the first pair of teammates in NHL history to achieve 400 wins together, with both scoring at least one point.
This is a milestone even all-time greats such as Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier, or Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom, never achieved.
Though they sit at the bottom of the Metropolitan Division with dwindling playoff aspirations, evenings like these secure the legacy of one of the finest duos in hockey.
