The Boston Bruins made a surprise announcement with their roster this afternoon, ahead of their game against the Penguins.

Both the Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins have had disappointing seasons this year.
For the Penguins, it is very obvious that they will not make the playoffs. The club will almost certainly be sellers over the next week as we approach the trade deadline.
For the Bruins though, there is still some hope of making the playoffs, as the team is just 4 points out of the second wild card spot.
As such, each and every game for the remainder of the regular season will be treated like a playoff game for the club.
This is why every roster move the team makes is extremely important and will be highly scrutinized.
The team announced that backup goaltender Joonas Korpisalo will be getting the start tonight in the matchup against Pittsburgh.
As a result, Swayman will get the second half of the back-to-back, when the team faces the Minnesota Wild tomorrow evening.
Considering the fact that the Wild are a much better team than the Penguins, this move should not come as much of a surprise.
That being said, Korpisalo has not been very good at all this year.
He has a reasonable record of 9-6-2, but his 2.86 goals-against-average and .892 save percentage paint a different story.
To be fair though, Swayman has not been much better. The Bruins starter has a record of 18-19-6, a GAA of 3.00, and a save percentage of .897.
Perhaps waiting until the last moment to sign his contract extension with the team last summer has played a role into his struggles this season, or perhaps trading away his beloved goalie partner Linus Ullmark has damaged the team's chemistry.
Regardless, it was time Korpisalo got into another game. His last start came on February 5th, a 3-2 loss to the New York Rangers.
