Rutger McGroarty was traded by the Winnipeg Jets to the Pittsburgh Penguins this past week after the University of Michigan superstar demanded a trade from the team.

If you may recall, we reported on how McGroarty fell out of favor with the Jets last season. According to General Manager Kevin Cheveldayoff, it all started when McGroarty put on the Winnipeg Jets jersey for the first time. He told the club that putting on the uniform just did not feel right for him. Ultimately, it was a purely vibes-based decision.
Well, in resurfaced footage, McGroarty completely contradicted himself. As you can see below, he told Jets fans that he grew up as a fan of the team and that he was excited about his journey with the franchise. Of course, this was all lies.
As this point, all you can do is laugh, if you are a Jets fan. Although it sucks that the team is giving up such a talented player, it's best to retain players who are actually committed to the team and the city. Over the long haul, this could very well prove to be a good thing for the Jets.
Meanwhile, the Penguins will have to be wary of McGroarty's intentions. This is a bad first impression to give before even playing on NHL game. However, if he proves to be worth the hype, then perhaps this latest saga will be completely forgotten about.
Do you believe that McGroarty will excel with the Pittsburgh Penguins? Let us know in the poll down below and stay tuned to Hockey Unplugged for the latest news and updates from around the hockey world.
