The National Hockey League breaks an impressive record thanks to fans
Each NHL season brings a tally of total attendance across all 32 teams, and often, the league has set new records for fan turnoutdespite complications like the venue issues in Tempe and Mullet Arena, involving the soon-to-be relocated Arizona Coyotes.
This season, with eighteen games still left on the schedule, the league has already seen 22,560,364 fans come through the gates. This marks a slight increase from last season's total of 22.4 million.
There's been plenty of buzz this week about these record-breaking numbers. And while the bump of just over 160,000 might seem small in the grand scheme, especially considering the challenges with the Coyotes, it's a testament to the efforts of NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman and his team. Critics aside, they're evidently succeeding in keeping arenas full.
Looking ahead, it's uncertain if this trend will continue into next year. The future is always unpredictable, but for now, it's clear the NHL is enjoying a period of robust health, at least in terms of fan engagement.
